'The Talented Mr Ripley' - Character Profiles

Tom Ripley (Playing age 25-30. American) An utterly compelling, fastidious, obsessive, charming and measured psychopath.

Richard Greenleaf (Playing age 25-30. American) A rich young man who lacks motivation or real discretion. He is, however, a genuinely good soul, utterly lacking in suspicion or cynicism. He is roughly the same height, weight and colouring as Ripley.

Freddie Miles (Playing age 25-30. American) A good-natured, slow-moving school friend of Richard Greenleaf.

Herbert Greenleaf (Playing age 50’s+. American) Richard’s father. Successful, affluent, pleasant and genuine.

Emily Greenleaf (Playing age 50’s+. American) Richard’s mother. Suffers from Leukaemia, but still a glamorous woman and good-natured.

Aunt Dottie (Playing age 50’s+. American) Tom’s Aunt.

Marc Priminger (Playing age 25-30. American) Tom’s friend.

Fausto (Playing age 30’s +. Italian) A naive teenager.

Sophia (Playing age 25-30. Italian) A prostitute.

The play is performed by SEVEN actors with the following roles doubled:

These doublings are mandatory, are not arbitrary and must be followed exactly. (As stated by the playwright)
